Uvalde Border Patrol Checkpoint Nets $336,000 Cocaine Cache
Del Rio, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Uvalde Station seized $336,000 worth of cocaine Saturday after
finding the narcotics hidden in a car. Shortly after 3 p.m. Saturday, a 2003 Pontiac Aztec approached the Highway 90 immigration checkpoint near Uvalde. While
agents were conducting routine immigration inspections, a Border Patrol canine alerted to the possible presence of
contraband in the vehicle. An intensive search revealed four packages hidden in the tailgate of the vehicle. The packages
contained a total of 10.5 pounds of cocaine, worth an estimated $336,000. The driver, an 18-year-old Del Rio man, was
turned over to Homeland Security Investigations for federal prosecution.
