National Guardsmen Rescue Distressed Border Patrol K-9


National Guardsmen assigned to Operation Guardian Support rescued a Border Patrol K-9 agent and saved the animal’s life. The K-9 and his handler tracked down a group of 11 illegal immigrants before the dog fell victim to the heat.

Members of a National Guard helicopter crew responded to a call for assistance from a Border Patrol team after a K-9 agent experienced a heat-related medical emergency. The K-9 became overheated while tracking a group of 11 illegal aliens in the desert and harsh terrain near Arivaca, Arizona, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials.
